Why is my dose of RYTARY higher than my old dose?

Since RYTARY is different, your dose
will be different, too

Because the way RYTARY delivers medication into your body is different from other forms of CD/LD, your dose of RYTARY will not be the same as the dose of your old CD/LD medication.

In fact, because of its unique technology, it’s normal for your dose of RYTARY to be higher than the dose of whatever previous CD/LD medication you’d been taking.

RYTARY is not a one-dose-fits-all type of medication

Everyone is different, and everyone’s dose of RYTARY will be different, too. Yours will be adjusted to meet your specific needs. And even if you’re initially prescribed one dose of RYTARY, your healthcare provider may need to adjust it over time. In fact, in one study 76% of people prescribed the recommended starting dose of RYTARY ended up needing a dose adjustment within the first 6 weeks of treatment.
To make it easier for your healthcare provider to find the exact dose of RYTARY that’s right for you, the medication is available in 4 different capsule strengths.

It’s important to be open and honest with your healthcare provider

Communication with your healthcare
provider is key

The goal of treatment should be to find the dose of RYTARY that can help you feel more like yourself. And finding that dose requires communication with your healthcare provider about how you’re doing. We suggest checking in with your healthcare provider 1 to 3 days after starting RYTARY, especially if you’re experiencing any of the following:

clock-circular-outline
“Off” time – when you are experiencing motor symptoms.
passage-of-time
A delay in “On” time – when the dose of your medication is not controlling your motor symptoms well enough.
dyskinesia
Dyskinesia – an effect from your Parkinson’s medication where you have movements that you can’t control.

It might take some time, but it’ll be worth it to find the dose that works best for you.

Download a treatment journal to help you track your progress as you begin taking RYTARY, and then share your results with your healthcare provider.
