Could RYTARY be right for you?

Medications, such as immediate release carbidopa/levodopa, work for many people with Parkinson’s. But over time, they may experience more “off” time—when their medication has worn off and the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s return.

If too much "off" time is preventing you from enjoying your time, RYTARY may be able to help.

Ask yourself:

  • Is it hard to predict how my day will go because of “off” time?
  • Is my medication not working like it used to?
  • Do I have to take more doses of my current medication to manage my motor symptoms?
  • Could I benefit from a treatment that works for up to 4 to 5 hours?
  • Is Parkinson’s getting in the way of making plans or doing my everyday activities?
If you answered YES to any of these questions,
ask your healthcare provider if RYTARY is right for you.

If you've already been prescribed RYTARY, be sure to communicate with your healthcare provider early and often about your progress. This is particularly important during your first few days and weeks on treatment, as your body gets used to your new medication.

Check in with your healthcare provider 1 to 3 days after starting treatment, especially if you’re experiencing any of the following:

clock-circular-outline
Too much “off” time – when your medication has worn off and the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s return.
passage-of-time
A delay in “on” time – a situation when your medication doesn’t start working as fast as usual.
dyskinesia
Too much dyskinesia – an effect from your Parkinson’s medications where you have muscle movements that you can’t control.
If you start taking RYTARY and learn that your healthcare provider needs to adjust your dose, don’t worry. It’s all part of the process. In fact, in one study, 76% of people required a different dose compared with the recommended starting dose of RYTARY.

My doctor explained that my symptoms may get worse at first and I may have some side effects, but to make sure I keep him informed on what was happening. So I tried it again. I stuck with it, and he was right. My side effects improved, and I was happy with my results with RYTARY.
